Bangladesh has summoned Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Pranay Verma, and demanded a full investigation into the violent protests in front of various Bangladesh diplomatic missions in India and attacks on visa centers.

Dhaka has also demanded that all necessary measures be taken to avoid a recurrence of similar incidents. At the same time, Bangladesh has condemned the incident.

The Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Pranay Verma, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday and this condemnation was conveyed.

Regarding the summons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, to convey its deep concern to the Indian government over the tragic incidents that took place outside the Bangladesh High Commission and residence in New Delhi on December 20 and the vandalism of the Bangladesh Visa Center in Shiliguri by various extremists on December 22.

Bangladesh has also expressed deep concern over the violent protests outside various Bangladesh diplomatic missions in India. Bangladesh condemns such acts of premeditated violence or intimidation against diplomatic establishments, which not only endanger the safety of diplomatic personnel, but also undermine the principles of mutual respect and the values ​​of peace and tolerance. The Government of Bangladesh calls upon the Government of India to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, and ensure the security of Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions and related establishments in India.

The Government of Bangladesh hopes that the Government of India will take immediate and appropriate steps in accordance with its international and diplomatic obligations to protect the dignity and safety of diplomatic personnel and establishments.
